Why Puzzlers Love Ravensburger: Our Guide and Staff Picks

By The Yorkshire Jigsaw Store

If you've been puzzling for any length of time, there's a good chance a Ravensburger box has found its way onto your table. It's one of the best-known names in jigsaws, and for good reason. Here in Easingwold we stock more Ravensburger titles than any other brand, so we thought it was time to share what makes them so special, along with a few of our favourites.

A Name Built on Quality

Ravensburger has been making games and puzzles in the town of Ravensburg, Germany, since 1883, and that heritage shows in every box. Their pieces are cut using Softclick Technology, so each one slots home with a gentle, reassuring click and there are no frustrating "almost fits".

The board is thick and sturdy, and the matte, anti-glare finish means you can puzzle under a lamp or overhead light without reflections getting in the way. It's the kind of quality you notice from the very first piece.

Our Ravensburger Staff Picks

All in stock and ready to send from Yorkshire.

River Cafe is part of the much-loved Cosy Cafe series, a gentle, colourful build that's perfect with a cuppa. Seaside Allotment is a cheerful 500-piece that's ideal for an evening or two.

If you prefer bigger pieces, Garden Centre is a 500XL puzzle: the pieces are much larger, but the finished picture is the same generous size as a 1000-piece. And for the seasoned puzzler with a spare table, Isle of Sights is a 3000-piece epic that will keep you happily busy for weeks.

Which Ravensburger Size Is Right for You?

As a rough guide, a 500-piece makes a relaxed evening or two, a 1000-piece is a satisfying weekend project, and 1500 to 3000 pieces are for the puzzler who loves a long challenge. The 500XL and Large Format ranges are wonderful for anyone with arthritis or tired eyes, and for puzzling together across generations.

Ravensburger's range is enormous, from 3 x 49 piece sets for little ones right up to puzzles of several thousand pieces, with everything from cosy cafés and gardens to famous landmarks and fine art in between. Whatever you enjoy, there's a Ravensburger to match.

Whether you're treating yourself or buying for someone special, there's a Ravensburger puzzle with their name on it. Browse our full Ravensburger collection here, with free UK delivery on orders over £50.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Ravensburger puzzles different from other brands?

Ravensburger's Softclick Technology gives each piece a precise, satisfying fit, and their matte, anti-glare finish stops reflections from lamps and overhead lights. The board is thick and durable, so their puzzles can be completed again and again.

What does 500XL mean?

A 500XL puzzle has 500 pieces that are much larger than standard pieces. The finished picture is about the same size as a 1000-piece puzzle, so it's easier on the hands and eyes without being any less impressive on the table.

How big is a finished Ravensburger 1000-piece puzzle?

Most Ravensburger 1000-piece puzzles finish at around 70 x 50cm, so you'll want a dining table, puzzle board or puzzle mat that size or a little larger.

Where are Ravensburger puzzles from?

Ravensburger is a German company that has been making games and puzzles in the town of Ravensburg since 1883.
